Photo Tours Update

The first Photo Tour took place on Saturday the 23rd of March.  I decided to revisit Glanmore Lake as one of the locations on the day.  The group of photographers who took part were faced with challenging conditions, however they achieved the following shot:

The next Photo Tour takes place on Saturday, the 21st of April.  We have a couple of places left.  If you would like to book a place, please contact michelle@skyline.ie .

Cost – €150 including lunch.
Participants need to have a basic working knowledge of their camera equipment.

Above is Allihies village on the Beara peninsula, West Cork, recognizable by its colorfully painted houses. It can be difficult to capture a shot on a day like this – waiting for that burst of light that turns an ordinary scene into something magical.The bad weather at least provided an opportunity to get some wonderfully dramatic images.

I am looking forward to a busy summer and sharing some new images in the coming weeks. Anything new will be posted on the Skyline Gallery Facebook Page. I entered eight images to the International Loupe Awards, and was happy to receive five silvers and one bronze.  Three of the images will be exhibited throughout Australia in 2012.

The Medium Format Fine Art Prize Exhibition Announcement.

The selection process for the Medium Format Fine Art Prize has been a tough one.
203 Medium and Large fromat images were submitted into this section of the awards. Images were created using old Holga Toy cameras with 120 film, Pin Hole cameras, old Linhofs and of course the latest big boys from Hasselblad, Leaf and Phase One.

The 203 images were judged to determine the highest scoring 50 images. These images were then Proof printed with an Epson 3880 onto Canson Rag Photographique. The Proof prints were then reviewed again to determine the 30 printed that would make up the Exhibition.
We couldn’t do it! In the end we finalised on 31 images.

These images will now be printed at a size of between 1 – 1.5 metres. These images will be mounted and framed ready for the exhibition. The Exhibition will travel to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Hong Kong throughout 2012. Details on Exhibition Times and Dates are to follow.

The Hasselblad Masters award, for which I have been selected as a finalist, is going on tour. The exhibition which features my Tree Lake image will visit London, LA, NY and Berlin in the coming months. I will be joining the tour in London and New York which I hope will be inspiring.

I am currently organising photography tours; you can join me on a landscape shoot in the wilds of south west Ireland. Places are limited to four per trip. If you are interested in this please get in touch and I will send you dates and details.
